About Us
Situated in The Chiltern Hills, officially classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our farm dates back to the 17th century and is surrounded by unspoilt countryside. For the past 20 years, Lower Bassibones Farm has proudly provided exceptional short and long-term accommodation. The property has been lovingly renovated and meticulously maintained, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable stay for all our guests.
The area boasts an extensive network of footpaths and cycle ways through beautiful beech woods and ancient pathways.
Each season at Lower Bassibones Farm brings its own unique beauty:
Spring: The beech woods are carpeted with bluebells, and newborn lambs graze in fields filled with buttercups.
Summer: It’s time for shearing, while haymaking attracts Red Kites and Buzzards soaring overhead in search of prey.
Autumn: The beech woods turn to gold, offering stunning views.
Winter: Spectacular sunsets and snowy landscapes create a magical setting. Badgers, foxes, deer and bats are often seen at dusk.
Located at the edge of Lee Common and The Lee, quintessential English villages, the farm retains the qualities and amenities of a traditional rural community and warmly welcomes visitors to enjoy the beauty of The Chilterns.
Local pubs host traditional Morris Dancers, offer local ales, and serve excellent meals. The village shop and the 13th-century local church complete the picturesque setting.
The Lee village green, apart from hosting village fetes and the Flower Show, is well known to “Midsomer Murder” fans as the place where many residents meet an untimely end!
